Agreement
These terms are an agreement between the merchant who installs Preorder Box ("you") and operix, which operates the app ("we"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy is part of these terms.
What the app does
Preorder Box lets you take pre-orders on the products you choose. For each product it creates a Shopify pre-order purchase option that charges the full pre-order price at checkout (the product's price, less any pre-order discount you set), shows a pre-order button and your ship date text on the product page, and lists the paid orders that contain pre-orders. Turning pre-orders off for a product removes the purchase option the app created for it. The app never changes your inventory, product prices, or other product details, except the one tag you can choose to have it add while a product takes pre-orders and remove when it stops. A pre-order discount is part of the pre-order purchase option: it applies only to items bought as pre-orders, and the product's own price stays as it is. Changing or removing it applies to new pre-orders; orders already placed keep the price they were placed at. On the Pro plan, if you turn it on, the app also emails customers a confirmation listing their pre-ordered items and ship-by dates.
Your pre-orders
The pre-orders are yours. The ship dates you show, fulfilling the orders, and telling customers about delays are your promise to them, not ours, including any duty to notify customers or offer refunds when an item ships late. The app never cancels, edits, or refunds an order.
Billing
Plans are billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice. An order counts toward your plan only when it is paid, not a test order, placed after you installed the app, and contains at least one pre-order made with the app; an order counts once however many pre-order lines it has. There are no overage charges and no fees on your sales. Going over the monthly limit never stops pre-orders in that month. If a store on the Free plan goes over in two months in a row, then in the second month, once the limit is reached after day 14, the app stops offering new pre-orders until you upgrade or the next month starts; pre-orders already placed are not affected. You can change or cancel your plan from the app at any time; uninstalling the app cancels the subscription.
Data processing
To count pre-orders the app processes the IDs and numbers of orders that contain pre-orders, and, if you turn on confirmation emails, the order's email address (used for that email and not stored). For that data you are the controller and we act as your processor: we process it only to provide the app to you and only as described in our Privacy Policy.
- We use the data only to show you your pre-orders, count them for your plan, and send the confirmation emails you turn on. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to train models.
- Sub-processors: Shopify (the platform, where orders come from and pre-order purchase options are created), Railway (hosting and database), Cloudflare (encrypted database backups) and Resend (sending pre-order confirmation emails). We will update the Privacy Policy before adding another.
- Security: the app is served only over HTTPS, requests from Shopify are verified by signature, and data is stored with our hosting provider's encryption at rest. Access is limited to the operator.
- Deletion: when you uninstall, Shopify sends a shop/redact request 48 hours later and we delete everything we hold for your shop; encrypted backups that still contain it expire within 30 days. When a customer asks to be deleted, Shopify sends a customers/redact request and we delete the rows for that customer's orders and the unsubscribe fingerprint of their email address, if there is one. Your orders stay in Shopify. You can ask for deletion sooner by email.
- Incidents: if we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you by email within 72 hours of confirming it, with what happened and what data was involved.
- Your part: you are responsible for having a lawful basis to take pre-orders from your customers, for the ship dates you publish, and for telling them in your own privacy notice that you use Preorder Box.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page is the last change; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app.
When you uninstall, Shopify deletes the pre-order purchase options the app created 48 hours later, so products go back to selling the way your inventory settings allow. Pre-orders already placed stay in Shopify as orders; fulfilling them is still yours. To stop offering pre-orders right away, use Turn off all in the app before you uninstall.
